Kline enthusiastically (though sometimes extravagantly) conveys his love of connoisseurship and of ‘art exploring.’ Kline's personal narrative provides a look into the world of lost art and those who search for it.” - Publishers Weekly“Kline describes this work as ‘a true labor of love,’ and it shows in his careful research and lively prose. I recently read this and have to say, it is a combination of history, art and mystery. Mr. Kline's stories of discovering art treasures from another era are simply fascinating. He's like a modern day Sherlock Holmes tracking down the origins of these pieces and, they are truly SOMETHING ELSE. The lead story about Leonardo's drawing of the Holy Child is fascinating and compelling. Following that is a collection of shorter stories about work he and his late wife discovered from lesser known, but still important artists. Underneath it all is the love story of Kline and his late wife Jann. Together they operated as quite a team exploring the origins of these works. If you like history and art history in particular, this is a must read. If you like mysteries then you will find reading how these art historians go about their exquisite work of discovery absolutely compelling. I loved it! Had to pace myself so I didn't read it all in a day. I'm buying more as holiday gifts for friends and family.
